Initial Thought: I am a big fan of horror movies and this was on my list to watch. So I decided to go ahead and give it a look. The premise is very similar to a story I thought was original, but clearly it isn't as original as I had hoped. I will have to just tweak it a bit to make it different.
Characters/Acting: Amber Heard here fellas that's probably enough to get you in the door. Anson Mount my draw some of his fans in as well. It's a teen slasher flick though so don't hold your acting expectations too high. None of the characters here are someone you root for except maybe Garth. Chloe is the stuck up brat who is probably the hottest here in my opinion. I like that they give her more depth than the casual queen bee. I thought the acting was pretty good with the most stand out to me being Michael Welch.
Story: So basically what we have here is a slasher who is killing off the people who just can't get enough of Mandy Lane. This girl was apparently a previously nerdy type of girl who became hot. This I can say is pretty true to reality and sadly it does happen. I don't think people get killed off for it though. The beginning of this movie kind of spoils the whole twist at the end although part of it was unexpected. A lot of this movie is the cliche boring teen partying. I liked the fact the killer doesn't wear a mask since it would have been pointless. There were a few decent death scenes. One near the end was brutal not because of how it happened but the fact the killers are having a conversation while they allow the person to bleed out. The ending was pretty good with a few good twists to the idea I didn't see coming.
Directing/Writing: The writer hasn't done anything other than a movie called The Well that came out last year so we will see how he started off. The director however has done a few more and I've liked all of them from The Wackness to Warm Bodies. He is a pretty fun director to watch in my opinion so I expect to enjoy this little slasher.
Final Thought: This was a pretty decent watch. It's nice to see different twists and turns in this genre. There were times I did get a little bored, but the last 30 minutes make up for it. It was different in it's style than many horror/slashers, but I think that's what charmed me here. There were a few times were the movie slowed down a couple seconds which I'm not sure if it was Netflix or the editing of the movie, but it was really odd. Anyways this is a good one to check out.

The Wedding Ringer review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/763/7767763.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
Initial Thought: I'm a big fan of Kevin Hart so I knew this would be something I would see. The cast is a decent mix bag of comedy actors. The trailer did make it seem like it would be somewhat funny and entertaining.
Characters/Acting: There is a huge number of characters here some of which with smaller roles of course. I've noticed lately a lot of Youtubers have been making brief appearances in movies like Spokenreasons, EpicLloyd, and Emmanuel Hudson. Here we have GloZell and IJustine making an appearance as well. I have to say the groomsmen are the most unusually hilarious bunch I have seen. The comedic timing of our actors is nice and they all have great chemistry together. I really liked all of the characters here.
Story: I think the story is kind of original. It would suck to have no friends let alone no friends to be a part of your wedding. The humorous atmosphere here is pretty well received and I found myself laughing quite a few times. The situations these guys find themselves in are pretty great. Okay I absolutely loved the part where they started dancing and the singer breaks out with "Teach Me How to Dougie"! There were actually a few twists I didn't expect and some I did.
Directing/Writing: The team of writer/directors haven't done anything else besides The Break Up. As well as the writer directing Fluffy. I haven't seen either so this will be my first tango with these guys. The writing here is actually pretty well put together.
Final Thought: So this was a refreshing comedy. I found myself laughing throughout the entire film. I would watch this again. It was a fun movie to pass the time with. If you enjoy Kevin Hart I'm sure you will find this enjoyable as well.

The Marine 4: Moving Target review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/925/8444925.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
Initial Thought: Oh good lord another direct to DVD sequel. The sub-title itself is just very mediocre. I do think it's good that they finally have an actor stick with the franchise for once. Too bad no one else returns to the series. The funny thing is the previous film is my least favorite while the second one (still crap) was my highest rated out of those entries.
Characters/Acting: Well the two biggest names here are in WWE so not sure that tells you the acting will be all that good. The acting is actually not all that bad and the characters are somewhat interesting. The witty banter here is amusing and well executed. I would have liked to see more from Summer Rae seeing as she is on the poster.
Story: Is there really much to the story? It's a WWE produced entry into a undying direct to DVD action series. So I seriously doubt there will be much ingenuity. This has a pretty recognizable formula that includes a person being hunted down for the secrets they hold of an organization. Nothing really new to see as expected, but the action is pretty entertaining. The cliche plot twists are at times shown quite a bit earlier than I had expected to see. The forest traps seemed like a homage to the Wrong Turn films where we see that kind of thing a lot.
Directing/Writing: This guy has mostly done direct to DVD films starring Cuba Gooding Jr. Only one of his very few films is above 5. He doesn't set my expectations very high. I didn't know this, but the guy who wrote this also did Spawn, the first 5 Wrong Turn films (which slowly went down entry by entry though), and the fourth Halloween. He also returns after only writing the first installment of this series.
Final Thoughts: Okay so this was actually much better than expected. Yeah maybe the name sucks and there are quite a few cliches, but this was actually a pretty enjoyable action flick. I would even go so far as to saying this has to be the best of the series. Everyone involved really stepped their game up on this. No it isn't the best thing around. It does however make a good time filler.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/675/9924675.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
Initial Thought: When I saw this was coming out I was annoyed. First of all there is no John Cusack for no real reason. Second is that it isn't necessary to make a sequel about this storyline. It was funny and innovative the first time, but a second time is just ridiculous. The trailer looks like it's for a very lame sitcom. I decided to go ahead and watch it with my friend who got it early.
Characters/Acting: No Adam, but we get his son. Who just so happens to be played by one of the kings of douchey characters. Everyone else returns here. Chevy Chase has seen better days. The acting is alright and Rob Corddry is still enjoyable as asshole Lou. There are a few silly cameos here and there.
Story: So here we have the group dealing with their success of other peoples ideas. Although the only person who seems to be happy is the arrogant prick Lou. I did find it funny when they looked in the mirror and were listing off what they looked like. In fact I did actually laugh a few times surprisingly. Some of the jokes were kind of bland and at times a little uncomfortable though. The future reminds me of a more inappropriate version of Idiocracy meets like Stepford Wives (personality wise). Near the end of the film when the time machine is used again they break the formula that is said to be necessary for it to work. It doesn't seem like they cared about continuity when they wrote this. That ending was a little bit out of nowhere and kind of messed up the vibe of the movie. The credit scenes were a little more amusing than most of the rest of the movie.
Directing: Steve Pink returns to direct this sequel. He hasn't done too many movies, but out of them I liked Accepted the most (even if Jonah Hill was in it yuck). It's disappointing to think that he would kill his small career with an unfunny and unnecessary sequel. Also the writer Josh Heald doesn't fair much better in terms of good movies. A lot of the time I think they just threw random things in. Some of the jokes were awful and few were actually well written.
Final Thoughts: Okay so I have now finished this. It was a little better than I had expected, but then again expectations weren't too high to begin with. There were a few scattered scenes throughout I found funny. The end kind of throws the whole movie out of the window though. It seems like they tried too hard to make this worthy of a sequel and came up a little bit too short. I wouldn't really recommend this nor would I watch it again.

Only Lovers Left Alive review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/442/8754442.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
Initial Thought: I had planned to see this a few years back because it looked quite interesting. I just never really had the time to go and watch it. Recently my parents had watched and loved it. They told me to watch it that night, but I still didn't. Now I am finally going to go ahead and quit procrastinating. Let's get the show on the road.
Characters/Acting: This has a pretty excellent cast of which I only initially remember Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston from the trailer. There is also some other quite recognizable names/faces like Anton Yelchin, Mia Wasikowska, and John Hurt. Tilda Swinton is a strange cookie. There are times when she is very odd looking and other times when she is oddly attractive. This is one of those times where she is oddly attractive. I actually really enjoy everyone here and think the acting is just superb. They feel like a normal dysfunctional family that just so happen to be vampires. They are also you could say addicts in their own ways.
Story: It starts off interesting enough. We get the feel that this is definitely an artsy kind of film since our first shot is a rotating camera that gets closer to our two main characters in different homes. Not much is shown of these two characters other than Adam is very passionate about music it seems. We have so many vampire movies just like we do zombies yet someone always finds a way to make our next experience different from the last. I have to say there were things I hadn't seen before that were actually kind of interesting. There is stuff here that reminded me of Queen of the Damned with the fact that Adam is part of the music industry. Also I felt like the idea of peaceful vampires from Twilight or Little Vampires was looked at before making this as well. It's interesting that they put in a historical figure here that there is speculation about. I didn't know about it initially until I looked it up and found it out. I thought the ending was unique and really well done.
Directing: I haven't seen much of Jim Jarmusch's stuff except Ghost Dog which was just an okay film. He actually wrote this as well. It's a pretty interesting idea. It's hard to come up with new things in the vampire genre, but he succeeded. The vibe that this gives off is a very arthouse character driven vampire movie.
Final Thoughts: If you are looking for blood and chaos this isn't going to be the movie for you. This isn't what you would expect from a vampire film. It sort of treats the vampires like everyday people that just happen to need blood for survival and sustenance. This seemed like it could be in the realm of Anne Rice. Honestly though it didn't really grab my attention like I would have hoped. It's a decent drama and watchable, but I was hoping it would be more gripping. I say give it a try you may find yourself enjoying it or it may not be what you are looking for either.

Dead Rising: Watchtower review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/665/8172665.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
Oh boy! Oh boy! Oh boy! I have been waiting forever for this and it finally came out. I am so excited. I loved the games even though I didn't get to play the third one I still know what happens. I have been waiting to see this as soon as I heard it was being made. I got more excited after the trailer. It looks like the cheesy goodness that I admire from the video games. Not to mention the cast is pretty reasonable. I mean Rob Riggle looks like he can pull off Frank West in my opinion. Oh this is the director who brought the re-imagining of Leprechaun. That doesn't make me too happy, but he also did work on So Weird and Goosebumps so I will give him a chance. I love that they incorporate a lot of the various details that were in the game series. Haha they even make combo weapons. That's pretty awesome. In fact they use a lot of things lying around from trash cans to even toasters. I'm glad it really went into detail on weapon usage. Of course we even get psychopaths although I wish the leader didn't have my name. I think I noticed a few character Easter eggs as well such as a zombie wearing a jacket very similar to Chuck. I loved this so much. I am a huge fan of the game series if you couldn't tell. This catered to me very well as a fan of said games and zombies alike. Zach Lipovsky didn't disappoint me at all.
Pros:
-Zombies galore
-Wicked psychopaths
-Frank West
-Many video game references/Easter eggs
-Likeable characters with decent acting
-Cheesy like the game, but also at times serious
Cons:
-It ended
-Would have liked more psychopaths/survivors
Anyways I loved this movie. The trailer hyped me up. It did not let me down. I would enjoy seeing a sequel or even a series if this does well enough. If you enjoy silliness and zombies or you are a fan of the video games I highly suggest getting on Crackle and watching this.

Bad Asses on the Bayou review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/252/8428252.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
The first one was alright. The second one sucked. I can't not finish a series once I've started it though. I also do like Danny Trejo and who knows maybe this one will actually be alright. You never know unless you try. I do like the addition of John Amos, but even Danny Glover didn't make the second one any better. I never paid attention to these things before, but no wonder these suck. They are all directed by terrible Craig Moss whose only other 3 films are all really awful parodies. So it starts off quite silly as expected. Then a little later we get a silly fight after a scenario I found kind of ridiculous. I think I know what the twist is already, but hopefully it surprises me by taking a different route. Well looks like I was absolutely right about the twist. That's very disappointing. The shootout near the end was bad ass (pun intended). That scene was pretty much the only bad ass thing in the whole movie. Everything else here was just kind of bland or silly (not in a particularly good way). Despite it being predictable and somewhat ridiculous I think this may have been the most enjoyable of the trilogy.
Pros:
-Danny Trejo the master of cheesy movies
-The addition of John Amos
-A few decent fight scenes
-It's probably the best of the three
-A few funny little jokes
Cons:
-Extremely predictable twists
-Some scenarios are ridiculous and just plain nonsensical
-Loni Love is really lame here
-Needed more of John Amos badassness
This isn't a good movie. It's quite dumb, but I would say it's watchable. If you can get past the cheesiness and predictability of this you may like it. You may even like it if you were a big fan of the first two. Other than that I say skip out on this one.

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/146/7602146.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
I really enjoyed the first two the latter actually being better in my opinion. I have been wanting to see this and just never really had the chance to until. I also had to see this mostly because I miss good ole Robin Williams. So I really loved this one. I find it to be my favorite of the trilogy. It's full of cute, funny, and even emotional moments throughout. I enjoyed seeing all the new exhibits that came to life. All the old ones that showed up were awesome as usual. I just love Dexter seeing as Capuchin are just so adorable. I think they might have done a sequel with the way it ended, but without Robin Williams I doubt they will do it. It just wouldn't be the same without him nor would it make any sense. I loved that they dedicated this to the two greats they lost Robin Williams of course and Mickey Rooney.
Pros:
-Old Characters we enjoy returning
-Awesome new characters
-Funny, emotional, and just altogether great moments
-Neat cameos
-A good finish to a fun trilogy
Cons:
-It felt a bit short
-Leaves room for a sequel I hope doesn't get made
I thought that it was a great finish to the series. This was just a great trilogy for the whole family. I had more fun with each entry I watched. I suggest if you watched and liked the first two you have to see this one as well

The Cobbler review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/155/19534155.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
I been looking forward to checking this out as the concept is really neat and unique. I enjoy Adam Sandler, but he has been having a lot of stinkers for awhile such as Jack & Jill or the Grown Ups films. Anyways this looked like he actually was trying to do something worth checking out. I see that there are a lot of naysayers giving this one bad reviews. I will still be watching for myself to see if it truly is as bad as I hear or not. I actually really enjoyed this. It's funny in all the right ways in my opinion. The acting is just great and I do enjoy whenever Adam Sandler takes on slightly more serious characters. I liked all the characters and his reactions as the people he becomes. I do wish it went more in depth with the idea of being in someone else's shoes. There were some good twists and turns that I didn't totally see coming. It had some moments that really pulled at the heart strings. The ending made me think if this had done better it could have a sequel.
Pros:
-A fresh and fun idea
-Good acting and characters
-Laugh out loud moments
-It gives a good message
Cons:
-Would have liked to see more of other peoples shoes
Anyways this was far from awful. I rarely laugh out loud towards a movie, but this one got me a bit. If you enjoy Adam Sandler you might like this one. If you don't then that's why this probably went on your crap list. See it or not it gives a good message.

Girl House review
![](https://lthumb.lisimg.com/656/14823656.jpg?width=140&sharpen=true)
I watched the trailer and thought yeah this one actually looks pretty good. It has to be better than Muck right? The beginning really reminded me of the Halloween remake although of course still quite different. Oh wow it's directed by Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer. I didn't even realize that. I also didn't know Camren Bicondova (Gotham's future Catwoman) was in this. She still seems like her character in Gotham although a little more extreme. This movie is about porn yet the nudity isn't as graphic or tasteless as in Muck. I have to say it must have been hard to make a movie about the porn industry that doesn't go to extremities. I don't think I have ever seen a killer do what this one does. I have to say one of those kills was pretty crazy. The acting is actually pretty good and the characters are all pretty likeable. Some stuff I actually didn't see coming. This had some points I thought were kind of original. It made me have a few Sorority Row flashbacks with hot girls in a big house scenario.
Pros:
-Somewhat Original yet familiar
-Doesn't overdo the content while still giving us a taste
-Good characters played by decent actors
-It had a few different kinds of kills
-A killer who doesn't play by the book
Cons:
-Took a little long to get to the action
-Would've liked a little more backstory for the villain
-They could have expanded some of the other girls to make us care more when they died since the movie had so much set up time
All in all this is actually a pretty decent horror flick. It isn't over the top. It deals with it's content in a mature tasteful way. If you want to see something familiar that has it's own original quirks I suggest trying this one.
