The Boy in the Striped Pajamas review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 10:20 (A review of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas)

This is such an amazing story. I always enjoy a good war movie fiction or not and this really is one of the ones at the top of the tier. The acting, the plot, the characters, and the cinematography are all phenomenal aspects of this heart-wrenching movie. Asa Butterfield shows he has skills at such a young age. We know he is gonna to be an amazing adult actor one day. Vera Farmiga and David Thewlis also played their parts to the T. This film is one of the most powerful films I have seen. It can be pretty disturbing and upsetting, but trust me it is worth it. The ending with the gas chamber will leaving you grabbing for the tissue box. Even my wife who hates depressing movies recommended that I watch this one. So with that I think I shall recommend it to you all as well.

Fright Night 2 (2013) review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 10:10 (A review of Fright Night 2 (2013))

This was really lame and pathetic! How is it considered a sequel? None of the actors are the same. It takes place in Romania. Evil Ed is still alive. Peter Vincent has no accent! Jaime Murray doesn't show any skin! There is graphic nudity that is pretty much unnecessary if they aren't going to show Jaime Murray (who is ridiculously hot in this) as well. The Charley guy looked like someone you would find at Hot Topic and really doesn't look like Fright Night Charley anymore. The acting was not very good. The plot was rehashed from several vampire stories and was almost the same exact thing as the previous film except Jaime Murray's character has a few differences than Colin Farrells' character. It shouldn't even be called Fright Night let alone say part 2. It is definitely a non-canon and nonsensical sequel just to throw some nudity into a direct to DVD sequel that not many people will even see. It isn't the worst thing if you see it without knowing the first one, but it is definitely not very good. I would say more than likely you will hate this film.

This Is the End review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 09:57 (A review of This Is the End)

I really loved this movie! I could not stop laughing. Yeah it is gross, immature, ridiculous, and is just plain inappropriate, but in my opinion it is really fun. The death scenes are hilarious and unexpected. There are some awesome cameos some of which I really didn't expect to see. An all star cast of comedians with other great stars as well. James Franco, Jay Baruchel, and Seth Rogen are amazing. I love how these guys don't mind making jokes of themselves either. There is a lot of really awkward sexual content which even though my wife was disgusted she still was laughing. I could have cared less about Jonah Hill being in it though as my only mark against it. The music at the end made me laugh the hardest. All in all this is definitely one of my all time favorites as it has comedy, gore, sci-fi, and some great characters/actors. I highly recommend this just don't take it seriously and you could end up really enjoying yourself I think.

Allegiance review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 09:45 (A review of Allegiance)

A war movie without any actual war. It does however have a few fight scenes. Well it was interesting that's for sure. It's probably not everyone's cup of tea though. It has a few recognizable faces including Aidan Quinn, Pablo Schreiber, Seth Gabel, and Bow Wow. It's a bit iffy to suggest this as many people will probably be disinterested. Do as you will.

Girl Most Likely review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 09:39 (A review of Girl Most Likely)

I'm not really a big fan of Kristen Wiig and I'm still not. That being said I did enjoy this movie. The main reasons are Darren Criss, Annette Bening, Matt Dillon, and the brother. It is a bit strange and kind of feels like it takes place in the realm of Napoleon Dynamite. I liked the ending as it was pretty funny. My favorite characters were definitely the brother and the guy who lives in her room. I would say check it out, but it might not be for everyone.

Noel review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 09:33 (A review of Noel)

I was in Ethiopia when I heard that Paul Walker died so I decided to check this out. May he rest in peace. This movie is a bit strange but quite interesting. The cast besides Walker includes Susan Sarandon, Penelope Cruz, Alan Arkin, Carmen Ejogo, Rachelle Lefevre, Chazz Palminteri (who also directs this), and Robin Williams. I thought that Mike and Rose's stories were my favorites because of Alan Arkin and Robin Williams' characters. I can't really say too much about this without ruining the magic of the movie. It is definitely a hidden gem. I'd say it's worth checking out.

The Beach review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 06:47 (A review of The Beach)

I have a lot of catching up to do on my Leo movies and I finally checked this out while I was in Ethiopia. The cast is pretty cool as it includes Robert Carlyle and Tilda Swinton. This is the only movie I have seen with Virginie Ledoyen, but I think she is beautiful and amazing in this. There are some scenes I wasn't expecting as I have never spoiled this movie before finally watching it. The characters are intriguing and some are a bit mysterious. I never read the book which could help in me liking it more. Some people say this movie got boring, but in my opinion it got more and more interesting as it moved forward. It is a bit crazy and off the wall at times which I like to see. So all in all I rather enjoyed it. I think it is worth seeing if you like Leonardo Dicaprio and Danny Boyle films.

Vikingdom review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 05:46 (A review of Vikingdom)

No! No, no, no, no, no! This is terrible. Dominic Purcell is really beginning to get on my damn nerves. He sucks. His acting sucks. He makes poor choices. He just can't seem to get his shit together. Damnit he doesn't even try to have a freaking accent in this! In fact pretty much everyone in this movie sucks. Conan Stevens as freaking Thor! No! Don't ever try to be the awesome God of Thunder again! Jon Foo was hilariously awful as the racial stereotype Asian. Why though did he have to be a freaking stereotype? I mean get someone who legitimately sucks at English because he kind of sucks at pretending he can't speak English. There is a few good action scenes here and there, but there are plenty of better Vikings related media with much better action sequences. Give this one a pass as it will save that hour and a half of your life you could use for better things.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 05:39 (A review of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire)

Now I loved the first The Hunger Games movie and I enjoyed this was too. I did however feel that this one lacked some of the spark the first movie had. It seemed like this one was a bit longer and still made the larger chunk about what happened before the games. Although I do admit that the events before the games in this one were a bit more interesting than the last one it was still kind of boring. The cast is pretty much the same with the inclusion of Philip Seymour Hoffman (R.I.P.), Jeffrey Wright, and Jena Malone. The tributes are much more unique in this one as their age range is much wider and they all have more knowledge of what to do. It also didn't have quite enough of the action I was hoping to get. Then again I am one of those who hasn't read the books so I probably don't know what I am talking about. As a movie goer though I do wish this had more to offer to a wider audience. Anyways at least it's a good series to watch. It could have been better, but I did really enjoy it despite everything.

Group Sex review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 6 March 2014 05:22 (A review of Group Sex)

This movie is pretty funny and has an interesting plot. The title is definitely misleading as you would think it means a bunch of people having sex. Well it isn't and they reeled you in with that title. Easy money if you ask me. While yes it doesn't have what you thought you were entitled to it does have brief nudity and Odette Annable plays a sex addicted stripper. Greg Grunberg, Josh Cooke, Rob Benedict, Tom Arnold, Henry Winkler, and others play the rest of the sex fiends. While maybe the title caught you I say it is worth checking out because it is enjoyable and the characters are quite quirky with their strange fetishes.
