Hell Baby review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 11:35 (A review of Hell Baby)

I have to admit I watched this because of Mr.Skin. Now with a cast like this you know it can go one of two ways. It is either going to be something I regret or something that is going to make me laugh my ass off. I have to say for a comedy horror film this is one of the only times jump scares have ever gotten me more than a few times in a single movie. Riki Lindhome has a nice body. Keegan Michael Key is the best thing about this though. It has some good laughs, but it is definitely over the top. I think the actors had a lot of fun with this. It is quite cheesy and ridiculous, but I had fun watching this. It gets pretty bloody near the ending. All in all I actually enjoyed this. It ain't too bad if you don't take it too seriously.

Planes review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 09:17 (A review of Planes)

I think I am in the low percentage when I say I actually really liked this movie. Also I am in the low percentage when I say I love Dane Cook as well. Other voices involved in this were Stacy Keach, Brad Garrett, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Teri hatcher, John Cleese, Cedric the Entertainer, Gabriel Iglesias, Sinbad (Okay didn't know that WTF), Val Kilmer, and some of the usual common voice actors. I thought this movie was funny, interesting, and cute. The characters were quirky and intriguing. I also watched this not expecting too much other than to feel like a kid. It isn't better than Cars, but I did like it more than Cars 2. However that being said the sequel to this really doesn't look too promising as it completely takes away everything this movie worked so hard to accomplish. Anyways this is really good for if you have some kids or want to enjoy being a kid yourself.

Best Man Down review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 09:03 (A review of Best Man Down)

This is another cute little Indie film with Justin Long in it. It also co-stars Tyler Labine, Addison Timlin, Evan Jones (Playing out of type), Shelley Long, Jess Weixler, Frances O'Connor, and Michael Landes. I thought seeing Michael Landes play a gay priest was pretty funny. It is well made, has an interesting plot, great acting, and some interesting characters. It is a bit slow paced, but it pays off in the end. It gave a good message and is definitely worth the watch. So go check it out.

House Party: Tonight's the Night review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 08:58 (A review of House Party: Tonight's the Night)

Tequan Richmond might be the only recognizable face in the main cast for me. Anyways I actually really enjoyed this. It was funny, awkward, and had plenty of quirky characters. I was laughing all the way through and that's what you need from a comedy. If you want laughs this delivers. Some of the situations they get into are seriously off the wall. My favorite part was Toilet Sex Rap. You will know what I mean if you give this movie a chance. Also at the end is a sweet little gift for the fans of the original series. I would say it's worth checking out.

12 Years a Slave review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 08:51 (A review of 12 Years a Slave)

This! This was amazing and definitely Chiwetel Ejiofer's best performance. Too bad he didn't get the Oscar. However this film did get the Oscar for best picture so that says something. Also Lupita Nyong'o who before this was an unknown does really well and it shows as she got an Oscar as well.

Quvenzhane Wallis was in this, but I didn't even notice at the time I watched it because her role was so miniscule. Brad Pitt plays a small role in this just like he did with The Counselor, but he made a better choice being involved in this one.

Michael Fassbender plays antagonistic to the T. He is remarkable when he plays villainous characters and redeems himself after also being involved in the snorefest The Counselor.

Paul Dano and Paul Giamatti just play asshole racists that have no good qualities about them. Ruth Negga shows up in a minor role which I only mention for myself since I love Ethiopians and specifically enjoy her presence albeit her role being so miniscule.

Benedict Cumberbatch sticks to being a villain as usual and he just plays antagonistic so well. He's just so good at playing bad. The acting is just remarkable! The musical score is really great especially the part where Chiwetel Ejiofer begins singing in a really well filmed scene. The ending was beautiful.

I really enjoyed this as well as many people in the world did. It's a movie I am sure will be recommended for many decades to come. So let's keep pushing it towards the ones who have yet to see it. Put down the laptop or turn off the monitor and watch this already.

A Case of You review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 08:36 (A review of A Case of You)

This was adorable and heartwarming. I loved it! I'm one with my sensitive side that's for sure. Evan Rachel Wood (whom I didn't even recognize at first), Peter Dinklage (Hilarious as usual), Sam Rockwell, Brendan Fraser (Who is trying to make a comeback), Sienna Miller, Vince Vaughn, Busy Philipps, and Justin Long are the familiar faces in this. The acting is great and the story is cute. I thought Long and Wood (that innuendo was not on purpose I promise) definitely had some good chemistry together. I like how everything ends up. I would recommend it as it is a cute thing to watch with your wife or girlfriend.

How I Live Now review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 08:30 (A review of How I Live Now)

This was a bit strange if you ask me. The romance was a bit unusual and creepy to me. That being sad I actually really liked this movie. The cast isn't well known besides Saoirse Ronan who is really making a name for herself and Anna Chancellor. It was gripping and visually stunning. I am a sucker for a good war movie. The plot was interesting and keeps you locked in from beginning to end. It is somewhat reminiscent to Red Dawn or "Tomorrow, When the War Began", but it focuses more on a small family rather than a group of friends battling the enemies. It is also a what if scenario of World War III. A pretty cool idea and makes you wonder about some things. Kevin Macdonald is a really good director and if you haven't seen it you should check out The Last King of Scotland although be prepared for the sick brutality of it. Anyways this is a must see in my opinion. It is truly an intriguing piece of storytelling and makes you wonder.

The Counselor review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 08:17 (A review of The Counselor)

This movie was a huge disappointment. To come from such a great director is lunacy! How could the great Ridley Scott be involved with this boring useless movie. He even directed it sadly. The cast is amazing which is also sad because it really hurts their images. To see Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, Cameron Diaz, Javier Bardem, and Brad Pitt tells us that they really thought Ridley Scott had something here. Don't let the big names fool you. This movie makes no sense, it's boring, it's weird, and just really has no coherent plot.

What was with Cameron Diaz having "sex" with a car anyways? That was just weird and awkward. Although I do say she is quite flexible, but that could have been a double. Also how can you play a sexy sexual character without even showing some skin? Even Brad Pitt's character just seems totally useless and out of place. Nothing in this damn plot is coherent or anything! A lot of nothing happens through most of the movie. John Leguizamo shows up randomly and then just disappears like useless fodder. Come on Ridley Scott what are you doing you are better than this! This film is not interesting nor compelling. This movie really made me upset and as I am writing this review I am getting angrier by the second. Do not give this movie a chance as you will only think that Ridley Scott has already hit his peak and will end up another M. Night. Just an example as I still have faith in the director so let's just hope he doesn't really end up that way. Skip this one guys it ain't worth it I promise.

Hours review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 07:55 (A review of Hours)

I watched this the day I found out that Paul Walker had passed away. This was such a great movie and Walker's performance is powerful. The story is really good even with it being so simple. It's a fictional story that takes place during a real world occurrence. It gives a lot of suspense and interesting situations. Okay enough with this review just go watch this already. I swear it is amazing and will make you feel something.

The Starving Games review

Posted : 10 years, 2 months ago on 7 March 2014 07:50 (A review of The Starving Games)

This is yet another parody movie that is just plain silly and not particularly in a good way. It isn't the worst spoof ever, but it isn't very funny or that enjoyable. The Hungover Games is way funnier and more enjoyable. Best thing about this was Maiara Walsh and just because I like looking at her. Lauren Bowles, Theodus Crane, and Diedrich Bader are also in this. I say pass on this one and as go watch The Hungover Games that I mentioned. Although that one could be a hit or miss depending on your humor, but this one is way worse.
