Difret review
Posted : 8 years, 4 months ago on 3 July 2016 07:49 (A review of Difret)So I was on Netflix and came across this little Gem. I love Ethiopia and what it offers in terms of culture. I have so many friends from there and my wife is from there as well. I always long to learn more about what is going on within it. I had never known about this in my time there. It makes sense though that this happens out there sadly. I don't really like Angelina Jolie too much as an actress, but when she gets involved with Ethiopia like this I always respect her. Anyways Ethiopia rarely does these kinds of serious and well produced films so I knew this one was a must see. I have seen a few intense films of theirs and they are always quite well done. I feel this one will turn out to be the best one. Yeah I've met people in Ethiopia who were beaten and they seemed so casual about it. It's kind of scary to think about. Okay that has to be just terrifying. It's pretty scary to imagine this still happens out there. That's just disgusting. People can be pretty terrible. This is getting pretty intense. Tizita Hagere is doing a great job here. Some of those policies are pretty ridiculous. Did he really stick a pen in the food and then ask if there was poison? That doesn't seem right. This situation reminds me of some of the experiences I knew about of friends and people they knew in Ethiopia. Ah that really does make things harder when you can't prove things. Officials make all these things much harder than they should be. Well that was pretty dang smart. Man these guys are serious jerks. This guy's speech reminds me of the letter the father of Brock Turner wrote about his son's behavior! It's interesting to see how this whole situation works. I imagine that would be a rather strange experience. Yes go and leave your door open. Okay thank goodness I was wondering if there would be an explanation. This has to be such a heavy thing for all of them. These guys really need to chill. Aw the sweeter moments. That's a low blow. Well that was a different kind of ending. The acting was really good. Sometimes courtroom type dramas are a bit boring, but this had me gripped from beginning to end. I'm glad I watched this and learned more. It was a great way to start of the month. I highly recommend checking this one out. I mean if you have Netflix it's a no-brainer!

Lethal Weapon 3 review
Posted : 8 years, 4 months ago on 3 July 2016 02:07 (A review of Lethal Weapon 3)After the last one I had to make sure to check this one out. The thing I like is how they continuously get the supporting actors to return. The only behind the scenes person who doesn't return is Shane Black (only credited for the characters this time). Jeffrey Boam returns to the writer's chair. Robert Mark Kamen has written a ton of action films from the 80s until now with nearly all of them being pretty fun. Now it's time to check out round 3 of Lethal Weapon. So why exactly is Joe Pesci back for this? I mean he is cool and all, but it does seem a bit silly. See that's why you don't trust him with everything. Riggs is really something else haha. This lady needs to chill. First she worried about getting the crooks then she gets all touchy feely. It's just a bit ridiculous. Oh man this villain is twisted. I had a feeling that's what was going on. Well he actually changes his hairstyle here sort of. I like that the jokes and small things are consistent throughout the series. What ever happened to Sam the dog? Aw this rottweiler is adorable. Oh the ole let's trade battlescars. Damn kick some ass! That guy is about as stupid as those kids from the other installment. The captain has probably his biggest part in the series here. Okay I have to admit this is probably one of the most interesting chase sequences I've seen. Okay nice kill there. Stop...Hammertime lol. Is that actually really possible I wonder? Oh goodness they reflected it from the first one nice and still awkward lol. I figured it would have to end something like that. The continuity in these films is actually pretty good. The action was pretty good. The writing and acting can still be quite a bit corny. It wasn't as good as part two was, but it was still pretty entertaining. I think the first one was still the least impressive. Anyways the series is worth checking out.

Lethal Weapon 2 review
Posted : 8 years, 4 months ago on 1 July 2016 09:24 (A review of Lethal Weapon 2)So I am going to finish the remaining films of this series. Richard Donner returns to the director's chair. Shane Black returns to write the story. A lot of the actors return for their roles as well. I have never heard or seen anything written by Warren Murphy. Jeffrey Boam however wrote Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, Dead Zone, and The Lost Boys. Let's get on with round 2 of Lethal Weapon shall we. Oh nice we get to start off right in the action this time. Well that was certainly amusing. That was hilariously awkward! I would not like to wake up to that. Ah good ole fast talking Pesci. "Oh I was just checking to see if I was standing on plastic." Haha a good one. This over here looking like Final Destination 2 although not nearly as violent. Interesting plan there Martin. Lol Joe Pesci is such a goofball. Well that's pretty damn inconvenient. I swear Riggs has fun with this stuff. Holy crap that was intense. Of course they had to revisit though. Oh nice little twist there. Aw man that's just not cool. Okay did Grand Theft Auto 5 take notes from this movie? Whoa man you're getting a bit intense. You just got Riggs Roll'd lol. Haha this dude is crazy for that. The ending was silly but fun. I actually liked this way more than the first one. It's still a bit over the top at times, but hey action movies usually are. The action was much more well rounded. I liked a few of the new characters.

Lethal Weapon (1987) review
Posted : 8 years, 4 months ago on 29 June 2016 08:56 (A review of Lethal Weapon (1987))I feel I have waited too long already to check this series out. I know I've seen scenes from the series, but I couldn't tell you from which movies they were. It's a Richard Donner movie. He has made some pretty great flicks as well as some just decent watches. I can't say I've disliked anything from him yet. Shane Black also never disappoints with his writing. I was beginning to wonder why they started it with Christmas music. Oh that's a nice view to start with. Well screw you too movie! That is an awkward time to wish someone a happy birthday! Okay it is kind of amusing that the first 3 characters are all in some way naked. Did they really just knock as they walked in? Lol I feel like that scene was unscripted. Yeah he is definitely loony. I feel the music kind of took away from the scene. How did he not notice that was there? Wow those girls were not bright at all. Oh yes that isn't awkward at all. Okay that was pretty cool, but it's also highly unlikely. Kids are messed up I swear. Lol that kid has to be pretty dumb. He is kind of contradicting himself there. Well I knew that was going to happen. A bit overkill on that meeting don't you think? That doesn't look like something survivable. Why do people say everything is going to be alright while they are in the middle of a freaking firefight. Okay that guy was just chilling and then turned around like he knew it would be the heroes and not his fellow bad guys. Isn't there a better way to break into a house? Okay the last fight was pretty good. Honestly though I don't see what all the fuss is about. It has good action moments and some well known one liners. To me though I noticed a lot of errors throughout with continuity and goofs. Even the acting was a bit off at times. I still found it to be a decent watch. It's just not great in my opinion.

A Very Murray Christmas review
Posted : 8 years, 5 months ago on 26 June 2016 07:10 (A review of A Very Murray Christmas)I figured I would watch this since it's short and I like a majority of the actors. Also Netflix has yet to disappoint me except for with their kids shows. I haven't seen too many films by Sofia Coppola, but what I have seen was enjoyable. At least she isn't acting in this. Mitch Glazer also wrote Scrooged which was decent. This is Bill Murray's second writing credit in over 30 years. I'm really not feeling anything much yet. Okay this Chris Rock stuff is pretty funny. Baby it's cold outside! No idea who that band was but okay. Yuck I absolutely hate Maya Rudolph hope she isn't in too much. If that's really her singing voice that may be her only redeeming factor. Well at least that's all she came in for. These two Miley Cyrus songs are actually another plus for me. I wonder how many times George Clooney had to keep redoing that part lol. I wouldn't complain about all of them. Oh yes another Miley Cyrus song. The ending was just okay. I could have done without that extra scene of Maya Rudolph in the credits. Overall it's just okay. There are a few good songs here and there. It's probably one of the least impressive things Netflix has owned.

The Fundamentals of Caring (2016) review
Posted : 8 years, 5 months ago on 26 June 2016 03:17 (A review of The Fundamentals of Caring (2016))This sort of reminds me of Who's Driving Doug that I watched last month although the cast here is much bigger. Also this based on a novel of course. This looks to be Rob Burnett's first venture into writing/directing a film. I was wondering what was going on there. He definitely does have a unique sense of humor. Yeah this kid is definitely an asshole and it's hilarious. Ah the witty and serious banters. This kid would give me a serious heart attack. Okay that was pretty funny. All the little gags in this dramedy are pretty golden. Yeah Selena Gomez is really trying to be an adult with this one with all her crude words and such. Pervin Mervin lol. Hahaha that was such a good one! Oh no that's just terrible. Man that's just rough. Wow that was pretty powerful. He's just standing there like WTF is that about? Aw that's creative. Okay that ending was actually perfect. I really liked the characters here. The acting was phenomenal. Everything was so well rounded here. I actually was expecting a bit more drama though. It's still definitely worth checking out.ย

Sickhouse review
Posted : 8 years, 5 months ago on 26 June 2016 01:08 (A review of Sickhouse)I seriously doubt this will have anything interesting happen. I'm only watching it so the rest of you don't have to. Apparently this film was made with the Snapchat app from beginning to end. Yeah it's true. So with that information you can already tell this may not be the film for you. Hannah Macpherson has a couple films under her belt of which I've never heard of. So I can already tell I'm not going to like these characters. Are you serious? They are definitely not the sharpest tools in the shed. At least they're hot so it's not all that bad lol. I'm guessing those were supposed to be drugs lol. That kiss was so out of place. Well that was *ahem* interesting. It's sad how people can be surprised that someone is still a virgin at 17 like it's such a long time. Society needs to work on itself. Yeah I seriously hope that part was fiction as well. Well that's no fair we should have seen that too haha. Once again we get the lackluster back view. Ah there is finally some gore and it's only 20 minutes left. Wow that was super cheesy. Throw up is their huge concern here? Like really there is nothing really scary about that. That comment has to be some of the most ridiculous things I've seen. Lol what in the hell just happened? Um okay then. This is probably the worst found footage I've ever seen. Thank God it's the shortest one. It was really painful to watch.

The Division: Agent Origins review
Posted : 8 years, 5 months ago on 25 June 2016 08:42 (A review of The Division: Agent Origins)I liked the game so I figured I would check out this little short they made for it. Adrian Picardi also made a short film for Left 4 Dead. This is Devin Graham's first credit. It doesn't look like any writers are credited at the moment. That's just cold blooded. That was just brutal. There is quite a bit more comedy here than the game. The white guy is such an asshole friend lol. I love that they show a lot of the aspects of the game. I mean of course they do, but it's still pretty cool to see. The action is actually pretty well done. The third guy is probably the coolest in my opinion. Ah the end credits do show who wrote this. They are both also video game short film makers as well. So it was enjoyable, but it could have been better.

Dead Rising: Endgame review
Posted : 8 years, 5 months ago on 25 June 2016 06:52 (A review of Dead Rising: Endgame)I loved the first one of these films. I liked the little hints of the games and the silliness of it all. So I was super excited they decided to do a second one. Pat Williams is mostly known for television like Degrassi and Smallville. Michael Ferris has written a few well known films like Surrogates, Primeval, and parts 3 & Four of the Terminator series. Tim Carter is the only person behind the scenes to return for this one. I appreciate that they got a lot of the actors to return for this one with a few cool new additions. For those who have forgotten what has happened we get a sort of recap of the first film. Well I wasn't expecting to see anything like that here. I think this is the third zombie production where we see a zombie girl with a teddy bear and it's kind of becoming an annoying cliche. At least they went somewhere a little different with it. Oh damn that sucks. That was an interesting way to use a chair. Haha of course someone would be playing Dead Rising 3 in this. Garth is pretty awesome. Hahah you go Sandra! That is not a good sign. Aww no that's not fair. Nice kill there man. That escalator stuff was pretty cool and intense. I just got chills! She is a zombie so that's not very attractive lol. He's just like "really now?". Billy Zane is still pretty cool if you ask me. Ah of course something like that had to happen. These mutant zombies are so ugly! Another interesting use of furniture there. Awesome little cameo right there. Haha damn no chill. It's not quite as fun as the first one, but it's a decent follow up. Some of the aspects that made the first one so much fun weren't used here. It ends up being mostly just another zombie film. The acting was pretty good though. Although sometimes there seemed to be a little awkwardness in the writing or the acting. The action was great. Overall it was still pretty good.

Los inocentes review
Posted : 8 years, 5 months ago on 25 June 2016 07:16 (A review of Los inocentes)It's super short and it's on Netflix so I figured I would give it a shot. Wow it took a hell of a lot of directors/writers to make it. I mean 12 directors and 17 writers doesn't give much to hope for. That's just way too many and it's not even an anthology. Nearly all of them have done nothing else besides this film. A few actors have done some things I've seen, but I honestly can't recall who they were. Hey there ladies. Well damn that's a strong start though. There is definitely quite a mixture of the typical kind of stupid kids here. Ugh they got me just when I was beginning to think it was actually real. That's not creepy at all. Well someone had to go first. That can't be white wine unless the subtitles are incorrect. Don't do that it's a seriously bad idea! This guy doesn't know what the hell to think. Oh seriously that's just like the awkward scene from the Lin Shaye and Ray Wise movie Dead End. At least it's a hot chick this time so it's more tolerable! I can only imagine how this is going to go. Okay this animal and bug stuff is kind of lame and out of place. Well I mean I don't think it was necessary, but I ain't complaining. Mmm watcha say? Mmm watcha say? A lot of this is pretty cliche and predictable except for that. I wasn't expecting that. I also can't say I had expected that either. It was a decent ending I'd say. For a very short film that's a bit on the cliched side I still kind of liked it. Maybe it's because I expected so little. It's not great, but it's an alright waste of an hour.
