Into the Storm review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 20 August 2014 01:46 (A review of Into the Storm)I love weather disaster films. This in my opinion is so much better than the movie Twister with Helen Hunt and I loved that movie. This is one occasion where I didn't think Sarah Wayne Callies was a boring or whiny character. I enjoyed the characters and thought the actors portrayed them well. I have to say the father and the Twista Chasers. Speaking of the Twista Chasers they reminded me of the Ghostfacers from Supernatural with quite a few similarities between them. The tornado scenes were intense and epic. There were some pretty crazy death scenes throughout. My personal favorite would have to be the guy getting sucked up into the burning tornado. It was mostly a found footage sort of film with a few very short sequences of regular filming style. I felt a great amount of tension through several scenes. The ending was a little silly, but it was a good idea to throw a little humor into this. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

Guardians of the Galaxy review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 20 August 2014 12:29 (A review of Guardians of the Galaxy)I have been dying to see this for awhile now. I finally got the chance today. It was better than I even expected. The character designs were amazing. There were so many different creatures throughout this. A lot of detail and thought went into this. The fight choreography was amazing. Even though it the fighting was slightly over the top it looked more realistic than say Man of Steel or Amazing Spider-Man 2. Every single member of the cast was amazing and did their parts great. There were some emotional, hilarious, and just down right badass scenes throughout. The even had some originality to their fight scenes. It is definitely my favorite Marvel movie. Make sure to stay after the credits if you are a true Marvel fan. I enjoyed all the little Easter eggs they put in there for the fans. There were some actors I didn't even realize were in it until I saw the credits. It kind of reminded me of Star Wars and Star Trek. I guess it makes since too since Zoe Saldana was also in Star Trek. I enjoyed the musical score which included several songs that I have always enjoyed. The pop culture references were well timed and hilarious. Dave Bautista was perfect in this which was surprising. I couldn't tell you what my favorite part was or even who my favorite character was. It was a well rounded film with well rounded characters. It's a definite must see for not just Marvel fans. It was just plain excellent. James Gunn really stepped his game up with this. I usually enjoy him anyways, but this was his best work so far.

Jakob the Liar review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 18 August 2014 07:55 (A review of Jakob the Liar)I decided to watch this as part of my respect for Robin Williams as I haven't seen this yet. I never expected to see a movie about such a serious subject as WWII turned into somewhat of a dramedy. I mean it is more of a dark comedy of sorts. It was a bittersweet story dealing with a sad subject while bringing hints of humor throughout the story. The acting is great and the storyline is quite interesting. It was a different sort of film that you don't see often. It's the kind of movie you would expect from the great Robin Williams. It's definitely a must see for fans of his films. It's interesting that this movie says a lot of things in it that relate a bit to his real life. Rest in Peace Robin Williams!

Beneath review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 13 August 2014 02:28 (A review of Beneath)I'm pretty much only watching this for Mackenzie Rosman. The creature is actually creepy and kind of cool. The teens are extremely stupid though and the script is quite cheesy. There aren't many likeable characters in my opinion except maybe Deb and Johnny. It was different than most horror movies you see these days. I wish it was a bit more gory though. Nothing is really explained which makes it more interesting. I would like to see a sequel or something where it explains some things. It could have been better. I liked the ending though.

Mercenaries (2014) review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 11 August 2014 10:50 (A review of Mercenaries (2014))It's obvious that this is the mockbuster for The Expendables. I am surprised it took this long to make it. They did get some well known female action stars. Some of them have better acting skills than others. I swear this movie has the same set as the film Extraction with Vinnie Jones. Some of the acting is awful, but some of it is actually decent. The action is pretty decent. There were a few scenes that were ridiculously low budget, but what did you expect? Zoe Bell is awesome as usual. In fact pretty much everyone does alright except maybe the president's daughter and Cynthia Rothrock (who basically plays the Bruce Willis of this). It's not the worst Asylum has put out that's for sure. I actually enjoyed it. I can see them making a sequel. I think with a bigger budget and better writers this could have been much better.

Belle review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 11 August 2014 02:27 (A review of Belle)I have been wanting to see this for awhile as it seems like an interesting story. The cast is excellent as well as the acting. Tom Felton is typecast as a scumbag as usual which is a little disappointing. I would hope to see him play someone who isn't despicable for once. Gugu Mbatha-Raw is such a beautiful young actress with the acting chops to match. The story is deep and passionate. I tend to find most period pieces just decent, but stories like this one are the reason that I can live my life the way I do. We can love whomever we want in this day and age. It's such a touching and sweet story. It's definitely a period piece love story to check out.

Chef review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 8 August 2014 05:18 (A review of Chef)Jon Favreau is a pretty good director and actor. The acting is great and the story is intriguing. What's not to like about a cooking film. Throughout the entire film my mouth was salivating or my tummy was rumbling. It just made me very hungry seeing such delicious looking food. This was emotionally uplifting especially after a long, hard, and frustrating day. It's definitely targeted to both people who like food and father/son audiences. The characters are enticing and fun to watch. There are some cool little cameos that show up unexpectedly. The ending was sweet and cute. Some of it I felt was a little unresolved, but I loved this.

Jarhead 2: Field of Fire review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 7 August 2014 06:06 (A review of Jarhead 2: Field of Fire)I know this has nothing to do with the first one other than the name. That is a point against this. A point for this is it has a few well known actors that I do like. The only things this has in common with the first one are the cussing and that they play marines. It's definitely more violent than the original as I recall. That being said the action is awesome and some moments I didn't even expect. It isn't so bad if you can disregard it being called a sequel and simply think of it as Field of Fire. It was an unexpected adrenaline rush of some intense action. The ending was bittersweet. It may not be what Jarhead was, but it was surprisingly really entertaining. Give it a try you may be surprised.

Just Watch It
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 7 August 2014 02:40 (A review of Mall (2014))I didn't hear anything about this until right before I decided to watch it. The director is known for directing Linkin Park's videos. The cast is full of big well known names as well as some rising stars. It starts off immediately pulling you into the story. Gina Gershon is still a babe for sure. This is psychological, depressing, and twisted. It does well building up tension in several scenes. You are never too sure what will happen next. The acting is amazing. The characters are interesting while flawed. I like Linkin Park so the fact that most of the music in the film is them was a plus. Some scenes are a little confusing, but they make sense with what the story involves. It really gets into your emotions. This is one of those Indie films that I say everyone should see. It's just extremely well done. I will definitely be watching this one again.

Sharknado 2: The Second One review
Posted : 10 years, 3 months ago on 6 August 2014 11:37 (A review of Sharknado 2: The Second One)So I just watched the first one and figured I would watch this one too. There are tons of cameos from TV personalities to bottom grade actors. There are even references to their more famous roles if you are old enough to even get the references or even the cameos themselves. It's sad to see Vivica A. Fox sink so low as to be in a cheap syfy original SEQUEL! Also to see her looking so dumpy is a bit sad. There aren't quite as many cool shark deaths as the previous film. The acting is a little better I guess. Tara Reid's acting is even worse if that's possible. I did however think one scene with her was kind of cool. Vivica A. Fox acted like she was trying to act awful on purpose. There are several things in this that make absolutely no sense, but while watching it you kind of don't care. Well that is if you are watching it knowing not to expect it to make any kind of since. I mean seriously it's called Sharknado! Where were Nova and their kids from the first film? Despite the ending being complete cheese it was somewhat awesome still. I actually thought this one was better than the first one. Syfy channel always makes their movies hilariously awful yet sometimes they are watchable and fun. For me this was fun. The editing and CGI was a little better than the previous film. You could actually see more shark designs. Anyways get ready for brainless fun. If you want something serious look elsewhere.
SPOILER P.S. The part where Tara Reid loses her hand was hilarious because it truly shows just how awful her acting really is and why she has much less screen time than the previous installment!
