Sharknado review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 5 August 2014 06:12 (A review of Sharknado)

I love sharks. I heard a lot about this movie. It's one of those movies you know isn't going to be very good, but you watch it anyways just to forget about all seriousness. There were times where the CGI was pretty bad and other times were it was decent. Some of the death scenes were laughable, but at least there was plenty of them. I think there were a few pretty good death scenes thrown in some of which were shark deaths. There are many editing and visual errors that make it laughable. I'm not going to lie though while it is horrible it keeps you entertained. The characters are all fairly interesting, but the acting is pretty cheesy. The acting is silly of course with Tara Reid, the boyfriend, and the guy who plays the son being the worst of the bunch. The best of the bunch would probably be John Heard. Everyone else is okay. I think some of the characters should have lasted a little longer. The ending was actually pretty badass albeit in a cheesy way. For a syfy original this wasn't so bad. I actually found it fun and entertaining. There were a few scenes that were a little farfetched and silly. Nobody said this was supposed to be perfect or take itself seriously. Don't go into this expecting a masterpiece and you may find yourself actually enjoying it.

Godzilla review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 4 August 2014 05:46 (A review of Godzilla)

Of course I had to see this. Godzilla is a legend and I hear this is how the previous American remake should have been. I am one of the ones who despite everything actually enjoyed the first remake. It was cheesy, but I was entertained. Anyways I am sure I will love this one even more. It's intense and tragic at times. It takes itself more seriously than the previous remake. I like the beginning where they put Godzilla in videos of the past that made it seem like it was actually a part of history. I was a little disappointed with how little we actually got to see Godzilla. I do like how they had more than one monster though. The destruction and chaos was awesome. I kept wondering if the dog survived though. The ending was awesome. I hope if they make a sequel that it shows way more Godzilla. I do like that they made the characters full though. Too many movies these days focus more on just the carnage without getting too personal with the characters. This was definitely worth the wait.

The Purge: Anarchy review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 3 August 2014 04:58 (A review of The Purge: Anarchy)

I loved the concept of the first one and I enjoyed the execution. With that said that film had missed something that we all wanted to see: the CARNAGE. This time we are out in the open with a few intertwining stories to observe. I am hoping that this will be much more intense than it's predecessor. There were some interesting new additions to Purge-lore like the rich buying people to kill safely at home. Noel Gugliemi is in everything! Also he did pretty much what I was expecting him to do. It doesn't take long to get into the action which already makes this more enticing than the first one. There are some great twists and turns throughout the duration. The ending was great and somewhat unexpected. It was a crazy thrill ride. It was definitely better than I had hoped. It still felt a little lacking, but I'm sure the next one will up the ante again.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 2 August 2014 05:08 (A review of Captain America: The Winter Soldier)

I love Marvel movies. I wasn't able to see this when it first came out, but I finally saw it now. I love the cast and the new additions are pretty awesome. The action scenes were really intense and fun. I knew most of the twists before they happened, but it didn't break this film for me. Entertainment wise this movie was amazing. The two credit scenes were probably the only things I didn't expect. Nick Fury is a badass no matter what. I think Frank Grillo is good as more of a villain than anything else. Falcon was awesome and a good addition to the superheroes. Definitely one of the best of The Avenger-verse.

Exit to Hell review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 31 July 2014 03:01 (A review of Exit to Hell)

I enjoy grindhouse films and Kane Hodder is always a thrill to see in a horror movie. The concept was interesting, but execution wise this was really poorly done. It was really short and the kills were bland. What was the point of the zombie movie sequences shown throughout? That honestly made no sense. IF it was longer and had a better budget this could have been something.

Grudge Match review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 30 July 2014 03:48 (A review of Grudge Match)

The cast has some great names in it. I have been delaying myself on watching it. It's interesting that they used photos of them from Rocky and Raging Bull. The references are awesome for the fans of those movies as well. This is making me crave some butterscotch jellybeans haha. Most of the laughs come from whenever Kevin Hart is on screen. One thing I am thinking through this whole movie is who am I supposed to root for. I guess the more likeable choice is Razor but The Kid is interesting as well. I really like how everything turned out in the end. It wasn't at all like I expected it to be. The scenes during the credits were the best! I thought it was fun and entertaining. A great watch for classic boxing movie fans in my opinion. It brings the old and puts it with the new.

A Haunted House 2 review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 29 July 2014 09:21 (A review of A Haunted House 2)

I have actually been wanting to watch this. I liked the first one. Yes I know I am a minority for that. I like the Wayans Family style of comedy. They do spoofs better than most. Although they don't always do so good like Little Man had to be one of the worst things I had ever seen. Anyways despite negative reviews I will watch this for my own opinion. There are some funny scenes and of course the major awkward sex scenes usually involved in a Wayans comedy. Jaime Pressly is smoking hot in this that's for sure. Some scenes were a bit over the top with stupidity though. It's a bit more violent than the previous film. The ending was crazy homie. Anyways it's pretty off the wall and ridiculous. It's definitely not for everyone as it's pretty childish. I had fun not taking it seriously.

Zombie Night review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 29 July 2014 06:22 (A review of Zombie Night)

I enjoy zombies a lot. Sadly though many of the films the spout out now aren't so good. Amongst the rubble though we do find some hidden gems. It has a pretty decent cast going for it, but with John Gulager as the director this could go either way. The writing is horrible. I found it at times to be rather funny in a bad way which I don't think was intentional. The acting is really bad, but I didn't expect it to be as bad as it is. Daryl Hannah doesn't have much going for her anymore. She has like no talent anymore and doesn't even have her looks. Shirley Jones was awful and annoying. Anthony Michael Hall and Alan Ruck are the best things about this. I think John Gulager had a few favors to pull and some of the actors just needed the money. The concept was interesting, but it was so poorly executed. There were a few little tweaks that were interesting, but overall this movie was horrible. The ending was okay. I did like the sword killing scene, but that was it. I didn't feel any attachment or care for any of the characters. I say pass on this one.

Heaven Is for Real review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 29 July 2014 05:11 (A review of Heaven Is for Real)

I saw the trailer for this and knew it was something I had to see. The cast is great and it's based on a true story. It is definitely an emotionally moving film that digs deep. It makes you really think about things. I think it's really up to us if we want to believe this or not. Children are naturally innocent so it makes sense that were Heaven real that he would be able to see it. The writing is truly inspirational and powerful.

Nancy: [Iโ€™m mad at God.] Why God would give you your son back and take mine awayโ€ฆ
Todd: Do you love your son?
Nancy: Yes.
Todd: Do you think I love mine?
Nancy: Yes.
Todd: Do you think I love mine more than you love yours?
Nancy: No.
Todd: Nancy, do you think God loves my son more than He loves yours?
Nancy: No.

That right there was one of my favorite scenes in the movie. It is powerful even though very little is said in the dialogue. It is a Christian movie, but it is definitely a must watch even for those that have a hard time believing. The ending was pretty good and heart warming.

God's Not Dead review

Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 28 July 2014 08:47 (A review of God's Not Dead)

I have actually been wanting to see this for some time. I thought it looked like a very interesting premise. I like the interconnecting stories of how different people deal with religion. I thought it would be just about one guy proving that God does exist. I didn't expect anything more than that. The story is pretty deep and the acting is really great. It pulls at your heart strings several times throughout the duration of its runtime as well. Such a powerful movie with an amazing message. I recommend watching this even if you aren't Christian. It may change your views on things. I have to say this is greatly underrated. The ending was great and emotional. God's Not Dead.
