School Dance review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 15 July 2014 10:50 (A review of School Dance)I haven't heard anything good about this. I do see a lot of actors I enjoy and some I haven't seen in awhile. It has a more grown up Bobb'e Thompson. It's directed by Nick Cannon so I am not expecting much from that, but you never know. Amber Rose is in this as well playing a teenager really? Some of the jokes are just ridiculous, while I did find some others to be funny. It seems like a copy of House Party or even the more recent We The Party. There is nothing fantastic or even really defining about this movie. All it has are some attractive girls and very few funny scenes involving Katt Williams and Kevin Hart. They tried way too hard to make this funny and ended up coming short. Luenell's character was a complete waste of time. The break of the fourth wall at the end wasn't funny except that they mentioned something about a movie theater. There is no way this would be in theaters. The Supersize scene during the credits was a little funny though. Honestly with all the talent in this I was surprised by how awful it was. Shame on them for making this and shame on me for watching it.

Brick Mansions review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 15 July 2014 07:01 (A review of Brick Mansions)So it's a remake of District B13. For me especially with Paul Walker as the main character it feels like Escape From New York meets The Fast and The Furious. There are many awesome fight and parkour chase scenes that just pump up your adrenaline. Some of the fight scenes were cool and I just love seeing parkour especially thrown into fight scenes. David Belle plays the same character he did in the original foreign film. It's awesome that Vin Diesel was involved as the voice for Lino because David Belle's accent was to thick. The fight between Lola and Rayzah was hot haha. Some good little twists and turns. I think it was one RZA's better roles as a "villain". The ending was beautiful. I liked it, but it just seemed too generic. Nearly everything in it was carbon copy of other work. Yes it was a remake, but they could have changed it up a bit. Also Paul Walker was in his domain as an undercover cop working with a con who just so happens to do a few car chases. Not a bad film, but it wasn't special.

Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 15 July 2014 08:19 (A review of Dead Snow 2: Red vs. Dead)I have been waiting forever to see this! I loved the first one and I am sure I will love this one too. Good to see that it left off directly after the previous film. It also refreshes your memory on the previous film even showing how everyone died. I guess for anyone who watches this without seeing the first one won't have to. That is unless they want to enjoy the whole story and get the comedy of it. It is definitely not for the easily offended or weak of stomach. I mean it is about Nazi-zombies so I would think you would expect some pretty gnarly stuff. The violence is extreme and definitely tops the previous film in that department. The zombies look great my particular favorite were the group of three with one that has an eye patch. It's funnier and gorier than the original which makes me feel it is Norway's response to Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead. I actually find it awesome in a messed up sort of way that no one is safe from death. It doesn't matter if you are a kid, handicapped, elderly, or anything. I didn't know the main character from the first film spoke English so well. Also fun to see Stig Frode Henriksen playing a new character and he also speaks English really well. I felt a little bad for the sidekick haha. The fight scenes were pretty awesome. The ending was awesome and disturbing at the same time. It does way better with undead Nazis than The Outpost trilogy. Make sure to watch until after the credits there is an extra little scene.

Under the Skin review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 15 July 2014 03:43 (A review of Under the Skin)Scarlett Johansson is hot and this role fits her perfectly. I have been wanting to see this not only for her and her assets, but it looks interesting and visually stunning. The first four minutes were hard to sit through because literally nothing happens all you hear is a voice and see a strange visual that is unidentifiable. The music is interesting and unique. I am sure if the scenes weren't so prolonged this would most likely be a short film. It is a very slow art house style film with surreal, abstract, and scenic imagery that lingers. It could be a bit confusing for the average viewer who wants everything laid out in front of them. I know I was confused at times, but by interpretation you can understand what you think is happening. It was a gift to finally see Scarlett Johansson in her birthday suit haha! Oh I had to say it. I am a guy what would you expect. It's pretty disturbing and tragic, but it is definitely a unique film.

Sabotage review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 12 July 2014 03:23 (A review of Sabotage )I have seen four of David Ayer's films and I have enjoyed them all. The trailer really sparked my interest and didn't even spoil anything for me. The cast is full of interesting actors some of which are surprising to see. It's pretty gritty, brutal, and full of gory violence. It seems I have a great disagreement with many of what critics hate. I do feel that some of the characters were killed off too quickly. Some of it was a little cheesy to be honest, but that didn't take my interest away. The car chase scene has to be one of the most brutal ones I have seen. I thought some of the twists were obvious and some weren't, but they all worked for this movie in my opinion. The ending was awesome. I actually really enjoyed this one. I think Mireille Enos and Olivia Williams could have been better. Also I would have liked to gotten to know the characters better. I felt a little story and background was missing, but other than that it was pretty good.

Muppets Most Wanted review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 11 July 2014 06:07 (A review of Muppets Most Wanted )I've always enjoyed The Muppets and all the celebrity appearances they get. This has many puppeteers returning to play our favorite characters once again. There are some pretty awesome cameos in this and some of them you have to really keep your eyes open for. I have to say the interrogation song/scene was definitely my favorite of the musical numbers. I enjoyed the humor as it reminded me of goofy of my childhood and stuff I used to watch. It's not as good as the previous film in my opinion and the most interesting thing about it would probably have to be the endless supply of cameos. Many of the cameos I'm sure would pass over children's heads or even teens, but the parents watching will get most of them. There were many cute and funny moments throughout. I enjoyed it.

The Single Moms Club review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 10 July 2014 06:27 (A review of The Single Moms Club)It seems to me that lately Tyler Perry has been going downhill according to reviews and mass audience. Although I have to admit I liked them somewhat. So I decided to give this a chance because well it has an interesting cast. Yes I am a guy watching a chick flick. I am not afraid to admit on that. It's interesting to see all the different single mother lifestyles there are. A single mother who is dating someone and has joint custody, a rich mother who has no idea how to take care of her kids, a mother whose husband is in jail and doesn't make a lot of money, a struggling author who is struggling to make everything work, and a busy body who has no time to really watch her kid. Terry Crews was definitely the funniest part of the movie. Also it's your typical Tyler Perry movie where it's a comedy with some heavy drama. The acting isn't bad at all. I actually found the actor who played Rick was one of the best of the child actors in this. The rest of the children were a bit average in my opinion. I thought it was quite enjoyable and interesting.

Noah review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 9 July 2014 12:49 (A review of Noah)It's good to see another epic biblical story make it onto the big screen. The director is known for making interesting works and the cast is full of great choices. It does take many liberties of it's own to make it appeal to a larger audience. The violence is a bit brutal and uncomfortable in some scenes. I think visually this movie is remarkable to look at. I find it interesting that they mostly use the title "The Creator" instead of God. I like the scene where Noah is telling the Genesis story and we see the world growing and changing. The performances were top grade. I would have to say there is not a bad apple amongst the cast. It was definitely well approached and executed. I think this one is a bit underrated. It was just fantastic.

The Other Woman review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 8 July 2014 05:59 (A review of The Other Woman)I have never really been into Cameron Diaz, but I am quite fond of most of the rest of the cast. The plot isn't really new as we basically saw the same thing years ago in a film called John Tucker Must Die. This time it involves an adult crowd instead of a bunch of high school students. I love the little revenge tricks they pull on the guy. I thought Nicki Minaj played her part well to be honest. She wasn't bad at all. I have to say the shower scene is probably the funniest part. I actually liked this a little more than I thought. The funniest actors had to be Leslie Mann and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau though. The ending was pretty funny. Looks like this Lannister couldn't pay his debts haha.

Transcendence review
Posted : 10 years, 4 months ago on 8 July 2014 03:05 (A review of Transcendence)I remember watching the trailer and being intrigued with the cast and the plot as well. So it kind of feels like a modern 2001: A Space Odyssey meets Terminator. The concept was interesting, but the execution lacked something. Kate Mara as a "villain" was kind of silly. I just couldn't take her seriously to be honest. There are at least 3 of the actors in this that were also in The Dark Knight Rises even though this was only produced by Christopher Nolan. I find it interesting that one of the lines in the movie is "People fear what they don't understand." It seems to be the case with this film. It may have tried to hard to be an intelligent film, but the way it was executed might have been a little all over the place. I thought the ending was pretty beautiful visually and emotionally. Personally I found it to be a good watch.
