Need for Speed review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 17 March 2014 09:36 (A review of Need for Speed)

I was never really into the games as I wasn't much of a racing game player. However I was intrigued by this one although it pretty much seems exactly like Fast and Furious movies. Well I can't judge a book by it's cover so I decided to check it out. The cast is pretty good and I have always had a thing for Imogen Poots so I am glad to see her in another Hollywood film. There are some pretty awesome looking cars as well. Supposedly there is little or no CGI which is hard to believe, but if proven true would be pretty badass. Ah the cliche of having a singer/rapper casually sing as part of their character's qualities shows itself in this. It would have been nice to see them skip this cliche. Other than that I really had no issues with the characters they were awesome. There was some good comedy moments throughout as well. It actually has some pretty awesome sequences and some neat tricks. The soundtrack has got some good numbers my favorite being Roads Untraveled by Linkin Park. The ending is pretty good. I really enjoyed it and was much better than I thought. From what I have seen when my friend played the game this had a lot of stuff that usually happens in the games which is good. I recommend checking it out.

Spartacus: Blood and Sand - Motion Comic review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 16 March 2014 05:02 (A review of Spartacus: Blood and Sand - Motion Comic)

Well that was disappointing. The voice acting sucked. Ray Park is fun when he is on-screen, but as a voice actor he was lacking. The stories themselves were good though. It was nice to learn the history of some of the lesser characters of Spartacus. Also the artwork varied between bad and good. It was just okay.

You Can't Kill Stephen King review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 15 March 2014 09:00 (A review of You Can't Kill Stephen King)

Now I know what your thinking. Why the hell would I watch this. Well that's easy. I freaking love Stephen King so I decided to give this a shot and see how silly it can be. The trailer says it all. There will be bad acting, overacting, and it will be just ridiculous. At least it knows what it's trying to do. Other parodies seem like they are trying too hard to get laughs and they do so poorly. I did quite enjoy all the little references they threw in slyly for the fans of Stephen King. I had a lot of fun watching this. It's better than most spoofs and the plot is actually pretty fun. I thought the twist was pretty good. It could be a hit or miss, but for me it was worth it.

Flood (2007) review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 15 March 2014 10:24 (A review of Flood (2007))

I love disaster flicks and have been meaning to watch this for awhile after seeing it on someone's list here. I never even knew about this movie or that it had a pretty stellar cast. It's interesting to see Jessalyn Gilsig playing someone that's nice rather than the characters she plays in Nip/Tuck, Glee, or Vikings. This movie is really boring. There are a handful of decent scenes, but there is really nothing that interesting that happens. Also the acting really sucks from everyone except Robert Carlyle, Jessalyn Gilsig, Ralph Brown, and Tom Hardy. It is pretty cheesy, cliche, and brings absolutely nothing new. I felt like I was watching one of The Asylum production company's movies just with some really good actors mixed in with the awful ones. The ending was really lame. This was definitely a waste of time.

Veronica Mars review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 14 March 2014 08:13 (A review of Veronica Mars)

I have been waiting forever for this and now I finally had the chance to see it! I have loved Veronica Mars since it first started. The premise of the show was awesome and the characters were well rounded and fun. Glad to see that most of the cast had returned. Although I am glad a certain someone didn't actually show up thank goodness because Duncan Kane is really lame. I mean they even had some of the small role characters show up which I gotta say is pretty awesome to see when you're a fan. It was also cool so see the new additions to the cast like James Franco, Gaby Hoffman, and a few others. I appreciated how they linked the show to the movie so people who wanted to see this but haven't seen the show could understand the gist of the story. It also was a good recap to have fans of the show remember how we had left off. Only 6 minutes in and I got memory chills! How awesome is that little Easter Egg for the fans. I can't say what it is, but I am sure you will love it! It's still has it's charm, pop culture references, and original witty banter as well. I loved seeing where all the characters have ended up over the years. This movie will surely give fans multiple nerdgasms haha. There were some unexpected scenes that kept me on the edge of my seat with my mouth gaping wide open wondering what the hell had happened (although in this case that's a good thing). There are definitely some wicked good twists and turns. The ending is pretty good. All in all this was totally awesome and worth the long ass wait. The ending credits were also perfect. I loved this!!!

"Come back to me."

"Always."

Yep that is exactly what Rob Thomas needs to say to us whenever we ask for more Veronica Mars! I highly recommend seeing this especially if you are a Veronica Mars fan.

The Last Brickmaker in America review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 14 March 2014 02:53 (A review of The Last Brickmaker in America)

So I picked this up at the video store when I saw it in the new releases section. So I immediately thought it was a brand new film. It wasn't until after I watched it and came here to review it that I found out it was 13 years old! It was also a made for TV movie. That is besides the point though. This movie has a pretty decent cast with legends such as Sidney Poitier and Piper Laurie. It also has some well known television actors such as Jay O. Sanders and Wendy Crewson. I thought the story was pretty well done and interesting. I found it to be inspirational and had some messages that spoke to me. Yeah it's a spiritual movie and it's made by a Christian movie company. I still suggest you check this out if you haven't already.

Cheap Thrills review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 13 March 2014 10:12 (A review of Cheap Thrills)

I have been wanting to check this out for awhile now. When I first saw the trailer and saw David Koechner I felt that this was going to be a lame comedy. Then the trailer changed course and that's what got my attention. It's amazing what people will do when it comes to money. Things get crazier as the movie moves along making it hard to determine what will happen next. I really enjoyed the characters. I thought they each had their own unique situations and quirks. There are some pretty interesting twists and turns as well. I have to say it gets a little uncomfortable and quite gross. The conclusion is pretty intense. This was one hell of a thrill ride. I say if you work for PETA, are against animal abuse (even if it's fake), and/or have a weak stomach then this is definitely not something for you. Other than that I recommend checking this one out it's quite crazy, but it's fun if the kind of humor and chaos doesn't bother you.

The Legend of Hercules review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 12 March 2014 07:25 (A review of The Legend of Hercules)

I enjoy Kellan Lutz and Scott Adkins so despite the negative ratings I decided to watch this for myself. Also Spartacus is in this so that's another reason. He even almost could be considered almost the exact same character He even gets involved in a Gladiator-type situation after also being involved in the pits pretty much exactly how Spartacus started. He loses his wife to a politician who he worked for. I swear it's like Renny Harlin loved Spartacus so much he wanted to recreate it in his image albeit more lame than interesting. There is really nothing to write home about here. There are tons of cliches and it seems like a collage of 300, Spartacus, Hercules (Obviously), Game of Thrones, etc. etc. I mean it even had the slow motion action that is prominent in 300 and Spartacus. It also had this low budget feeling to it like in the cave fight scene. The fight scenes weren't anything really special. The acting wasn't that bad though. The ending was pretty lame. Some things were a bit questionable and were left unanswered. This had really nothing to offer. I recommend you pass this on this one.

Mr. Peabody & Sherman review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 11 March 2014 12:26 (A review of Mr. Peabody & Sherman)

So this was directed by Rob Minkoff who did The Lion King followed by a series of not so good movies sadly. Anyways this looked promising so I decided to check it out. Mr. Peabody is a pretty awesome character. I found it funny that whenever Mr. Peabody made a pun Sherman would laugh and say he didn't get it. Which I am pretty sure the target audience probably wouldn't get a lot of them either, but the parents, young adults, and teenagers would. It's interesting that absolutely none of the characters have a problem with a talking dog only they make fun of his adoptive son. I enjoyed seeing some of the more interesting moments of history involved. It kind of reminded me of Wishbone and how he would get involved in historical events. I actually enjoyed it more and more as the movie moved forward. I recommend going to see this.

Mr. Hublot (2013) review

Posted : 10 years, 11 months ago on 10 March 2014 10:35 (A review of Mr. Hublot (2013))

So I decided to check this out after hearing it won an Oscar. Also I don't know anything about the movie other than that so I don't know what to expect. It is quite visually stunning that's for sure. I do like that the story deals with a real life problem such as OCD which I don't really see that often onscreen. It's a pretty cute little short and has a little bit of a twist. Check it out it ain't a bad watch.
