Afflicted review
Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 13 April 2014 05:41 (A review of Afflicted)I do like that most of the main cast uses their real names for the characters to make it seem more realistic instead a phony found footage where the actors play someone with a different name. I really enjoyed Derek. Cliff seems like a great friend, but sometimes he kind of got on my nerves. There were some pretty awesome scenes throughout involving the affliction's various abilities and issues. This should definitely end up on top vampire movies because it's refreshing, interesting, and badass. It brings new mythology into the vampire sub-genre. I loved it from beginning to end. The ending was awesome. Make sure to watch through the credits there is more! I could see them doing more with it in the future.

The Machine review
Posted : 10 years, 7 months ago on 10 April 2014 04:10 (A review of The Machine)I just saw a trailer for this recently and it looked pretty interesting. That is one fine looking machine to be honest. It starts pretty interesting and brutal. I do think the machines should have had better speech as it's really hard to understand what they are saying since they aren't even speaking English. Why are there no subtitles? Was that intentional or just poor skills on the filmmakers behalf? Although having no subtitles doesn't take away from the film and kind of makes it more mysterious and edgy. I like how this is a different sort of take on humans are the real monsters. I have to say Caity Lotz is awesome as The Machine and really shows a great range of emotion in her character. You know what this really feels like it belongs in the Terminator series as like a sort of linear story of another group trying to control the machines. There isn't a lot of action, but the action that is there is pretty awesome. I am glad that there were no subtitles as it would have changed my feelings on the movies as a whole. That was surely a bittersweet ending. I'd say it's a pretty interesting movie and worth checking out.

In the Blood review
Posted : 10 years, 8 months ago on 9 April 2014 08:12 (A review of In the Blood)I think Gina Carano is a great action star and the cast looks good. Also Gina Carano is pretty attractive. The plot also seemed interesting so I decided to check this out. There are some pretty cool little fight scenes. The plot kind of reminds me of something like Taken or Unknown. It's pretty interesting trying to put the puzzle pieces together as you watch it. The twists are pretty cool and some are actually unique. Ava will definitely become one of the top badass female characters of all time. I thought it was unpredictable and had a pretty surprising ending. I think it's well worth checking out.

Alien Abduction review
Posted : 10 years, 8 months ago on 8 April 2014 02:36 (A review of Alien Abduction)Well I will give it a try. The found footage genre is interesting in my opinion, but it rarely actually delivers anything truly interesting. So far it's pretty eery and creepy. The tunnel sequence was great. It's actually pretty interesting. I think Sean is probably my favorite character. The ending was pretty awesome and crazy. Although I don't think the camera could survive that. Also watch after the credits there is more to the story. I always wonder about aliens. I mean the only way to know for sure is to have your own experience. Nobody is going to believe you unless you have solid proof, but these days even solid proof might end up being thought of as fake. I mean CGI is just too easy these days that anything can be fabricated. It would take a lot of study to check the validity of such videos. Anyways I liked this. It wasn't bad at all. A one time watch sort of movie though.

Stage Fright review
Posted : 10 years, 8 months ago on 6 April 2014 03:58 (A review of Stage Fright)Well what do we have here? A new slasher that looks like fun. It also has the added mixture of being a musical which should be interesting. Also to see Minnie Driver and Meat Loaf in the cast already has me hooked. Now all the movie has to do is deliver what I expect from it. I would say it's like a mix of Phantom of the Opera and Scream which in my opinion makes for a cool mixture. The humor is at times perverted and crude. The music is goo, but the songs felt too short. The twist was predictable, but not the whole twist. The ending was interesting. I enjoyed it. The show must go on.

Goodbye World review
Posted : 10 years, 8 months ago on 6 April 2014 03:12 (A review of Goodbye World)Okay so when I first saw the trailer I was thinking wow something pretty interesting to thrown into the apocalyptic sub-genre. Now I finally get to check and see if it lives up to my expectations. It starts off well and interesting too. For a rapper Kid Cudi is making some interesting acting choices. In need for speed he was a tech savvy comic relief character, but in this he is quite the mysterious character. I have to say I know the the little girl is just a child, but wow she has to be one of the most annoying and rudest character I have ever seen. It kind of reminds me of It's A Disaster in that it has a bunch of friends that get together and doesn't really show too much of what's happening on the outside. It's more about the group of people dealing with the situation from their standpoint. It finally gets interesting around at the 30 minutes left mark. The twist is actually pretty interesting and well thought out. It was predictable who was involved it just wasn't obvious on how it had happened at least. The ending was nice and cute. It's not your typical apocalyptic movie, but it's enjoyable. I would recommend giving it a try.

Bad Johnson review
Posted : 10 years, 8 months ago on 2 April 2014 10:46 (A review of Bad Johnson)So apparently this movie is receiving negative feedback for being a copy of some Youtube video. The premise is lame and just plain ridiculous anyways. I only watch this because I enjoy Cam Gigandet and Jamie Chung. Of course this is filled to the brim with ridiculous dick jokes. It feels a bit low budget and the script could have been better. There is a good meaning to the story though which is that it's better to think with your heart and not your Johnson. It's a pretty cheesy movie to be honest. I do think Cam Gigandet is good at comedies. It's an alright watch. Not good, not too bad.

The Year After Infection review
Posted : 10 years, 8 months ago on 2 April 2014 04:55 (A review of The Year After Infection)Well I am a zombie fanatic and the premise caught my interest. You can find it easily on Youtube which means don't expect an extravagant movie with great acting. Also there are no known actors here either. With a better cast and a bigger budget this could have been something, but as it stands it's pretty awful. A major problem I noticed is the editing job was terrible. You could tell when the shot different scenes because of the way it cuts the scene. It even feels like you missed something. Anyways I will break this down into the four different seasons.
Spring- Okay so this one is really boring. I kept hoping it would end quickly. The main character of the segment is dull and awkward. Roy the zombie acts way better and all he has to do is moan and walk around. It felt more like I Spit On Your Grave or The Last House on the Left just with a zombie thrown in. I mean sheesh there are no likeable characters except for Roy the zombie and as I said before he just moans, walks around, and eats people. Also there was only 1 zombie! Seriously! The ending was lame. The whole segment was pretty disappointing and could have been done without being considered a zombie story. I mean I get the point of the segment I just thought it was poorly done, boring, and needing more than one zombie. I would even be okay with it having more screen time. 2/10
Summer- This segment is a bit better. The acting is better, but could still be improved. There are a variety of characters and some are even likeable. There are also more zombies which is good because these are supposed to have zombies in them. It's interesting how some characters change when they deal with certain experiences. This one had some pretty good sequences to my surprise. At the end I was wanting to see more. 7.5/10
Fall- The acting in this segment is alright. The plot is interesting enough, but the execution is pretty boring. Nothing really happens for the majority of the segment except a few unexciting little scenes. Some scenes even drag on a bit too long. It would have been better if they had a bit more zombies thrown in. The flashback scenes throughout this segment are goofy and unnecessary. I guess that's the only way they could show us a decent amount of zombies to still consider this segment a zombie short instead of just a post-apocalyptic movie. The ending was a little silly. I guess it ends like that so you can guess what will happen next or it thinks you are already aware. 4/10
Winter- Supposedly this is the best one of the segments as that is all I heard about from this that is positive. None of the other segments had good reviews about them. I hope they were right because only the second one was well made so far. The acting wasn't bad. The story in this was pretty good. It definitely is one of the better ones that's for sure. The frozen zombie was one of the more interesting scenes in this segment. Wow that was quite an ending! I am speechless. 9/10
So all in all it was a good concept. However, It was poorly executed, the dialogue was poor in most of it, and a lot of things made no sense. I do think if it had a bigger budget, better actors, and a more competent film crew this could have been a really great addition to the zombie sub-genre. It was a bit too long in my opinion at a whopping 2 hours and 10 minutes. It could have been better, but it isn't the worst thing I have seen. I would say check out the Summer and Winter segments as they are the best. The other two really suck.

Black Nativity review
Posted : 10 years, 8 months ago on 1 April 2014 10:09 (A review of Black Nativity)I always enjoy a good musical so I decided I would check it out and see what it had to offer. The cast is pretty decent with a few big stars and singers. Jennifer Hudson has an amazing voice and I love the sing she sings called Test of Faith (it even gave me chills!) In fact most of the songs are actually really good. Grace Gibson is wonderful and fits right in as a newcomer. She comes off as a genuine actress rather than just another celebrity daughter who got in film by association. I didn't know Forest Whitaker could sing. Jacob Latimore pulls off his lead role surprisingly well. The ending was great and was not what I would have expected. I cannot believe this is rated only 4 on IMDB. This is such a highly underrated film. I definitely suggest checking it out despite the critics.

Bad Words review
Posted : 10 years, 8 months ago on 1 April 2014 07:09 (A review of Bad Words)I thought that the concept and trailer were interesting so I decided to give this one a shot. I also am intrigued that Jason Bateman is also sitting in the director's chair for this as well as being the lead. I have always found Spelling Bees to be interested. There isn't very many movies about the subject either. The only other one I can recall is Akeelah and the Bee. This one however is for adults whereas that was for kids and families. I found Jason Bateman's character to be quite intriguing. I like how they give him all the craziest words like antidisestablishmentarianism. It's actually way better than I had expected it to be. The twist in the plot is really well done and interesting. The ending was great. It is just a well made film with a good meaning to it. I loved it and would definitely recommend giving it a shot.
