Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 30 March 2014 03:29 (A review of Bad Ass 2: Bad Asses)

"Somebody please call amber lamps."

The first one was okay. This one has Danny Glover added into the mix. It also marks the first time I have seen Jonathan Lipnicki since Stuart Little 2. Anyways I decided to check it out because I will watch anything. That doesn't mean however that I like everything. I just like to see what's good or not by my own eyes. So this one was pretty boring and cheap. It just feels like nothing really interesting happened at all. Danny Glover acted so poorly in this and some scenes just felt like they were thrown in as filler to make it longer. Oh gosh the police officer even makes a joke about AT&T's poor connection that I think was intended to be funny but came off as lame. The ending made me facepalm it was so bad. They should have just kept it at one movie. I mean these are based off of an internet meme! Also where the hell is the main girl from the first movie? Anyways skip this one it is not worth the time.

Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 29 March 2014 11:31 (A review of Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones)

I never really liked the Paranormal Activity movies except for Part 3, but I usually give movies a shot because you never know what will end up actually being good. So I am watching this not expecting much. We shall see what happens. The series keeps adding new things to the mythology in just about every entry. That's one thing I don't understand. I enjoyed the characters especially the grandmother and Arturo. There are some pretty good scenes throughout which was surprising. I actually really enjoyed this one to my surprise. I do wish it answered some questions about what happened to some of the characters like the dog haha. The ending was great and unexpected. As always though they leave you with more questions than answers. I'd say this is the second best of the Paranormal Activity movies.

The Den review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 29 March 2014 09:10 (A review of The Den)

Okay when I watched the trailer I knew this was my kind of movie to check out. The plot is a little different than I had expected it to be. In fact it's a better plot than I had originally thought. It definitely deals with all the cliche stuff you could encounter on Omegle and other sites where you can just skip around to random people. Some things can be just so weird. Well that was quite a movie. I could not stop watching this once I started because it's just that good. It's pretty intense and crazy with an insane ending. My mind is blown trying to figure out what just happened. I loved it and highly recommend checking it out.

Divergent review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 29 March 2014 02:26 (A review of Divergent)

This is yet another one of those teen books turned movies. It is directed by a capable person and has a promising cast. The concept looks interesting and I have never read the books. I am going into this with a fresh mind and not knowing what will happen along the way. I think the different factions of society are pretty cool, but I think it would really suck to be categorized as a certain kind of person. The Dauntless are pretty freaking awesome. I on the other hand would most likely be a Abnegation. That zip line looks like a lot of fun! The fear simulator would make me nervous as I don't quite know what would happen if I went into that. There are a lot of twists and turns I didn't see coming which made me enjoy this a lot. I don't know if they were the same as the book, but I am glad I didn't spoil this for myself if they were in the book. This was really well made. I think it's on par with The Hunger Games and Harry Potter movies. I would definitely end up watching this several more times.

Snowpiercer review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 25 March 2014 05:45 (A review of Snowpiercer)

The cast is an amazing selection of great actors. It is just plain epic how many A listers are in this. The concept is rather intriguing and a different take on the post-apocalyptic genre. The cinematography has a nice grittiness to it. It's interesting to think of the train as it's own country. You have different sections which could be considered different states. The action is pretty awesome and brutal. The classroom scene was pretty morbid and that's all I can say without giving anything away about it. This is one of those movies were the great cast actually succeeds in making a bad ass film. The characters are portrayed well. There are some wicked twists that are quite unexpected. I think this is one of Chris Evans' best performances. The ending was beautiful. This is definitely one of my favorites and I could definitely see myself watching this again. I highly recommend checking it out.

13 Sins review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 25 March 2014 02:08 (A review of 13 Sins)

I knew this was a remake! It's based on a Thailand horror movie called 13 Game of Death. The trailer looked decent enough so I decided to see if it was still interesting or not. Starts of with a really awkward scene that I found to be kind of weird to be honest. Well what do you expect from a movie remade from Asian cinema. I mean in the Thai version a guy eats poop for one of the challenges! YUCK! It isn't gross compared to that, but it is weird. There are some messed up challenges that I don't think I would ever have the guts to do no matter what. The challenges are pretty interesting in my opinion although many of them are the same as the original movie. The ending had some great twists and was just plain awesome! I have to say this really surprised me and I am sure it's going to end up being underrated for being a remake. I highly recommend checking this out!

300: Rise of an Empire review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 24 March 2014 11:16 (A review of 300: Rise of an Empire)

So I am one of those people who loved the first 300 and I was excited when I first saw the trailer as well. This was directed by the guy who made Smart People and a bunch of apparently award winning commercials. Some people from the first movie even show up in this one as well which is cool. Okay the slow-motion is way more overused in this entry than the last one. I think it's pretty interesting to see that this was a prequel, sequel, and even in a linear timeline with that of the first movie. The action is pretty awesome and I like the different tactics they use as well. Eva Green has this exotic appearance about her and great acting skills that makes her exciting to watch. Artemisia is quite the dangerous one when it comes to blades. She has probably the most messed up kills of all the 300 movie characters. Themistocles is a good enough lead character, but he in no way compares to Leonidas. The acting ain't bad though. It did get me excited to see what will happen next. I would recommend giving this a try. It was pretty fun to watch in my opinion.

Here Comes the Devil review

Posted : 10 years, 9 months ago on 24 March 2014 09:03 (A review of Here Comes the Devil)

So when I saw the trailer I thought this movie looked promising and interesting. Well now I have watched it for myself. There is nobody really well known in this, but the women are quite gorgeous. The beginning starts of quite naughty and really tries hard to pull you in from the start. There are a few brutal and disturbing scenes, but it is rather sparse. The acting is pretty good. It gets pretty boring several times which makes it hard to sit through and enjoy what few good scenes there are. The plot gets quite more disturbing as it goes further into the story though which is good. One thing I found annoying was the quick zooms to absolutely nothing except scenery. Like whenever they do that I am expecting to see something interesting. The ending was different yet kind of intriguing. It was a good movie, but it didn't deliver quite as well as I had hoped. It's worth checking out for something new in the genre of possession demon movies.

Raze review

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 19 March 2014 12:43 (A review of Raze)

I always like fighting movies so I decided to check this out. There are also some well known hotties in this so that's good. It's nice to see a movie that deals with just women rather than women vs. men or the constant theme of men vs men. It's intense, brutal, and even emotional. I thought it was awesome to see Zoe Bell, Tracie Thoms, and Rosario Dawson in another film together. Even though Dawson had the briefest appearance. There are some pretty unique characters. The acting is really well done even from the lesser known actresses. Also the fights are really interesting to watch as it's not really the typical fighting movie. There were some great twists and turns. The ending wasn't what I was expecting. I recommend checking this out as I thought it was unique and very interesting. Skip this though if you are going to complain about sexism and feminism when you know that most movies deal with men fighting men and sometimes women fighting men. At least this one is about the women.

The Nut Job review

Posted : 10 years, 10 months ago on 18 March 2014 01:06 (A review of The Nut Job)

This can't be worse than Free Birds so that in itself is enough for me to check this out regardless of ratings. I did like the dual heist storyline and thought it was a really interesting way to do this story. There are a few pretty funny moments in my opinion. I saw someone say in a review of this on IMDB that they weren't sure of some characters relevance to the story. I saw no problems with identifying characters roles. I thought some of it was a bit over the top at trying to be funny. As I thought this was loads better than Free Birds. There are several innuendos throughout of course. It's funny that to get adults to enjoy children's movies they have to thrown in tons of inappropriate sayings. Of course though I guess that is to be expected when your movie is about squirrels and nuts. When I saw the commercial for this I thought the dog sounded like a boy, but it wasn't as they clearly say it's a she in the movie. She was played by Maya Rudolph who honestly I could care less about. My favorite character was definitely Buddy which is funny because of the fact other cartoons with squirrels in them I usually favor them instead of the main characters. The little bird henchman in this reminds me of Angry Birds. Was that intentional? The ending was a bit odd because How would Precious know the exact whereabouts of Surly? Did she get his scent? If so that doesn't really explain how she could smell him from so far away! Also if she could smell him that well how did she know where he was before taking Buddy to him? Did she find him before Buddy? Anyways they don't really answer those questions. The ending was sweet though. This wasn't too bad. It's watchable, but it can be a hit or miss.
